Boudler

Entitled Boudler (a fusion of Buddha and Hitler coined by the artist), the sculpture comprises a superhero decorated with a Hitler/Chaplin moustache, dressed in a skirt, frozen in a ballerina’s pirouette. Brought together, these features amount to the artist himself.

Uri Katzenstein explores the meaning of prevailing images, introducing fundamental questions about his own identity and that of the place in which he lives and works. As in other sculptures in the exhibition, here too the viewer is confronted with the possibility of a futuristic hybrid identity based on cultural symbols and icons derived from the world around us.
