In his series Families (nos. 6-13), Uri Katzenstein addresses the primary social unit, the family, that undermines our basic assumptions.

In his work, this basic unit consists of doppelgängers of a single figure: small bronze sculptures that have taken on their maker’s face to become androgynous clones of the artist. They stand frozen in postures that seem to have been extracted from a mysterious sign language all their own.
